Srinagar, Oct 04 (KNO): The Office of the Principal Accountant General, Jammu & Kashmir on Friday organises the National Essay Writing Competition 2024 at its Srinagar office.
According to details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), this event is part of a nationwide initiative organised by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, taking place across all states and union territories from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
J.P.N Singh (IAAS) Principal Accountant General (A&E) Jammu And Kashmir and Keral Prasad Yadav, Principal Accountant General (Audit), highlighted the role of the CAG in identifying deficiencies in government programs and suggesting corrective measures. “We assist in supporting the management of government departments. Today's competition aims to raise awareness about the CAG's role,” he said.
A departmental statement, a copy of which was provided to KNO, confirmed that the competition was held simultaneously at the Head Office in Srinagar and the Branch Office in Jammu. The event saw enthusiastic participation from numerous college students who showcased their essay-writing talents. Participants were allowed to write in either Hindi or English.
This competition marks the beginning of the upcoming Audit Diwas celebrations scheduled for November 16, 2024. Participants had the option to register online, and those who missed the deadline were accommodated through on-the-spot registration facilitated by a help desk at both locations.
Essays will be evaluated separately in English and Hindi, with winners receiving cash prizes: First Prize - Rs 50,000, Second Prize - Rs 40,000 and Third Prize - Rs 30,000. All participants will receive digital participation certificates. Results are expected to be announced by November 5, 2024, with awards distributed during Audit Diwas.
The week following Audit Diwas will be celebrated as Audit Week in the Comptroller and Auditor General of India's field offices. In Jammu & Kashmir, Audit Week will run from November 18 to November 23, 2024. It will feature various activities, including workshops, a blood donation camp and cultural programmes—(KNO)
